Crawlspace Repair in Hope, BC

Challenge

Jeanette and Rick C. had just bought a home in Hope, BC. A beautiful rancher built in 1969 on a crawlspace. A couple of weeks after moving in they started to notice a musty smell coming from the crawlspace around the vents in the home. They also noticed a lot of bugs and odours inside the crawlspace where they wanted to store some of their belongings. After researching solutions to repairing their crawlspace online, they contacted Basement Systems Vancouver.

Solution

Gerald Renneberg visited the house in Hope, during his inspection he noted signs of moisture ingress into the crawlspace, grading issues around the home, a block missing from the block wall foundation, open vents in the crawlspace that were drawing in damp humid air. Also noted were some heating ducts that were leaking, and an abundance of spiders and bugs. The humidity levels in the crawlspace were higher than normal, causing the damp musty odours Mr and Mrs C. were noticing.

After inspecting the home, and discussing the issues with the homeowners, Gerald designed a system to seal off the home from the earth, and create a dry healthy environment. This system included, proper re grading around the home, installation of the Cleanspace crawlspace encapsulation, drainage matting installed under the CleanSpace vapour barrier, sealing of the crawlspace vents, debris removal and the installation of a proper crawlspace door.

The work in the home took 2 days to complete, and Mr and Mrs C could not have been happier, "Everything was great! Could not be happier." Now, Jeanette and Rick are set to enjoy a fresh and healthy home, with the benefit of extra storage space.
